Ancient Forest Twi-Lights at Landmark Aviemore

Ancient Forest Twi-Lights

On our latest visit to Aviemore, we were excited to see a new event advertised at Landmark Forest Adventure Park: Ancient Forest Twi-Lights! We’ve been to Aviemore many times over the last ten years and have never seen this event before - we had to go!

We booked via the website, and it wasn’t too expensive at £7 per adult and £5 for children. We were only £19 for my wife, me, and our youngest daughter.

Arriving at Landmark, it felt odd coming to the park at night; when we go, it’s usually first thing in the morning to get the most of a full day within the park. We made our way to the usual entrance ticket booth, which was decorated with Christmas lights.

The main ticket office was looking pretty at night.

We quoted our booking reference to the cheery ticket lady who informed us we also got free entry to the Bamboozeleum. Brilliant!

Making our way into the park, things had changed since my last visit to Landmark. There is now a wooden entranceway with many information panels. Here, we found glowing benches, a great first photo opportunity for our daughter Lauren.

What is Ancient Forest Twi-Lights at Landmark?

When you go to Landmark on a normal day, you walk through the forest on a wooden walkway. The walkway gets higher as you go, and you walk through the treetops, hoping to spot some of the local wildlife. The difference with the Twi-Lights event is the path is illuminated with Christmas/fairy lights. The entire route is lit up with lights on the handrails, and some of the trees are covered in lights, too.

We had picked the perfect night for this winter woodland walk; it was very cold, but there was no wind or rain. It felt very magical with the lights and music.

One section of the walk takes you to the usual spot with the tree that was hit by lightning but now has a thunder and lightning effect, which sounds and looks very realistic.

It was cold but magical on the Twi-lights walk.

My favourite section was a tunnel of lights, perfect for selfies and family photos.

Bamboozeleum

The walk ended back at the start, and from there, we made our way to the Bamboozeleum, which was included in our entry fee. This house of illusions was a fantastic way to end our visit to this Landmark winter event.

Our daughter Lauren particularly enjoyed Santa’s Grotto, mirrors, and optical illusions.
