Aberdeen City is the third largest city in Scotland and has a population of 200,000. Inhabited since at least 6,000 BC, Aberdeen was the first ever Scottish settlement to have been granted a Royal Charter which made it one of Scotland's most important cities. The city's location on the North Sea coast meant that its harbour became an important trading hub for fishing and whisky exports. Nowadays Aberdeen is home to some top universities like Robert Gordon University and others which provide opportunities for students from all over the world.
