Trochelhill Bed and Breakfast in Moray
Way back in 2008, Ian and Dian Ferguson got in touch with me to develop a website for their new bed and breakfast business, based near the village of Fochabers in Moray, Scotland. We shared a mutual architect (Neil Grant from Grant & Geoghegan in Keith)... I was building a self-build house, Ian and Dian were renovating the beautiful Trochelhill country house into a premier bed and breakfast in the heart of Moray.
Trochelhill Country House
Trochelhill is a standalone Victorian-era country house, based in Speyside, near Fochabers and Mosstodloch. The house is situated beautifully in mature gardens, and they often post on social media with the wide variety of wildlife that visits, including woodpeckers, badgers, and squirrels. The lead-up to the house is very picturesque and welcoming.
Previous owners / Bosnian Refugee Children
The previous owners at Trochelhill - Andrew and Clare Findlay - saved 21 Bosnian Refugee Children from the Bosnian war, all staying at the country house for an extended period. A BBC documentary aired on the 20th May on BBC2 called "Saved by a Stranger", covers the children's story.
A warm welcome
Ian & Dian are extremely nice and welcoming hosts and it seems nothing is too much trouble going by the plethora of positive reviews. Home-made Cake on arrival seems to be the tradition at Trochelhill, no wonder they have a flawless record!
Breakfast at Trochelhill Bed and Breakfast
The full Scottish breakfast at Trochelhill is legendary with a full-cooked breakfast on offer, including bacon, egg, sausage, lorne, haggis, black pudding, tomato, beans, mushroom, and hash browns. Also available are Scottish kippers and smoked salmon. Porridge, toast, cereal, and yogurts are also available. Vegetarian options are available. Breakfast is served from 7.30 am to 9 am in the dining room.
The rooms at Trochelhill
There are three beautiful rooms at Trochelhill, the Aigen, Ordiequish, and Balnacoul. All of the rooms have TVs, tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, and towels.
Aigen room
This is my favourite room at Trochelhill. There is a large half tester queen bed in a very spacious room. The bathroom is beautiful with both a large shower and a bath. I really need to book a stay in this room, my wife would love it... is it wrong to stay at a B&B that's just 10 minutes away from home!? Trochelhill could be the exception.
